The festival in Cannes, which took place in the period 07-12 September 2021, is special for the Italian brand Sanlorenzo. It was there that they officially introduced three new models for the first time: The semi-displacement series welcomed the SD118, and the asymmetric series expanded with two new models — the SL90A and SL120A.

The asymmetric series of Sanlorenzo — the first in the world with such a design

When Sanlorenzo launched the first asymmetric SL102 in 2018, it was not only the first for the brand, but also the first asymmetric yacht in the world. Three years later, the brand continues to change the view we have of the vision of a yacht by launching two new asymmetrical models.

In fact, the concept of the asymmetrical line was born as a combination between the ideas of successful creators with very different experiences and points of view: It all started with the original idea of Chris Bangle, the brilliant automotive designer who became known as the chief designer of BMW. It follows the intervention of Bernardo Zuccon, designer of some of the most beautiful boats in the world. And the final ingredient is Sanlorenzo's ability to turn even the most complex ideas into reality.

Zukon himself shared about the series:

“The SL120 and SL90A further solidify the idea we pushed forward with the introduction of the SL102. With the new models, we continue to explore the concept of asymmetry and redefine the way people perceive life on board. The spaces on board have actually been redesigned in such a way as to give people the opportunity to look at the sea from new and dynamic perspectives that are constantly changing. ”

With the launch of the first SL120A model, Sanlorenzo revolutionized the canonical layout of a yacht, providing additional interior space and direct contact with the sea. This approach is interpreted differently in each of the three models, along with new innovations and design details that make each of the new proposals unique.

SL90A — the comforts of a large yacht, housed in a more compact model

Thanks to its innovative layout, the SL90A retains only the right deck of the bridge and eliminates the left one, which moves to the roof of the structure, increasing the space of the main deck. This allows the construction of large windows and more daylight on the boat.

The asymmetrical configuration allows for a layout where the owner's cabin and main deck saloon are on the same level, a solution typically found on larger size yachts. But, this is not all that the owner's cabin is different from that of boats of similar size. In fact, it is built on three levels. At the level of the main deck is the bedroom itself. One level down we find a bathroom with toilet. And a little further down we come to a closet, in which the owner can safely store all the things he needs on board.

The owner's cabin also benefits from special access to the nose section, while the bridge and nose section are connected to each other, welcoming a sun deck on which you can rest or have fun.

With its elegant lines and glazing on only one side, which externally is chromatically similar to the housing and dematerializes the feeling of empty spaces, the SL90A gives a feeling of cleanliness and aesthetic continuity.
